Why are you running for the office of your choice?
I have served on the Planning Board for the past three years and have been the Chairman of the Architectural Review Board for two years. As an architect, I have seen the positive impact that I have been able to make and want to take my community involvement to a higher level by serving on the Town Board of Commissioners.
What makes you the most qualified candidate?
Architectural background in planning and design.
Planning Board experience for three years.
Architectural Review Board for two years.
Owner of a small business for thirteen years resulting in strong leadership, financial, and strategic planning skills.
What regional issue do you believe most affects your municipality (such as crime, roads, schools, etc.) and what role do you believe your municipality can play in improving it?
Transportation improvements are most critical to our region. As development continues to occur, we must work together to understand current infrastructure as well as prioritize needs. As we update our current Land Use Plan, we will need to have input from adjacent towns and approach the plan as a regional model as well as develop a specific plan for our town.
Do you believe there could be better collaboration among the municipalities in Mecklenburg County? If so, what would you suggest to improve it?
I support more open discussions about the problems and solutions between Davidson, Huntersville and Cornelius. As Commissioner, I will encourage the creation of desinated forums where these discussions can occur.
How can residents get involved in your campaign? Please include campaign manager or volunteer coordinator’s contact information.
Volunteer to walk neighborhoods and talk to residents about my campaign. We need volunteers to put up yard signs, host neighborhood meetings and encourage residents to vote! To volunteer, contact me at ctravis@housingstudio.com
