What office are you running for?: Town Council

Please share with us a short personal/professional biography::Attended Norwich University on a Naval ROTC (Marine option) Scholarship and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in History. Honorably served over 13 years as a Marine Corps officer, deploying to the Middle East and Far East regions in defense of this great nation. Served 4 years as a Senior Congressional Advisor and Intelligence Liaison for the U.S. Intelligence Community, providing classified intelligence briefings and budgetary/program management to Congress. Served in the Charlotte Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation until accepting my
current position. Married to my beautiful wife, Angela, and we have two sons: Victor, 19 and Andrew, 7

Most important organizations you belong to (up to three)::–Christ Community Church in Huntersville
–Lake Norman Transportation Commission
–Police Dispatch Committee for Huntersville and Cornelius

List up to three (3) of your most important political/civic accomplishments in the last five (5) years::—Creating a “Top 10″ and subsequent “Top 16″ Road Projects list in Huntersville.
–Actively and aggressively keeping the tax rate flat in Huntersville for 2 consecutive fiscal years.
–Bringing to fruition and very near future vote on a new police station for Huntersville

Why are you running for the office of your choice?: I am running for RE-election as I consider this position to be an extreme honor to represent 47,000 citizens in Huntersville. My leadership, passion, and focused approach towards representative government are my strong points. I believe … there needs to be a continued focus on roads and infrastructure in Huntersville. I continuously voted in favor and helped bring to the forefront a determined and unwavering fiscal and policy focus on ROADS…this will continue to be my #1 priority! NC73, Hwy21, Hwy115, multiple major intersections, and new roads are all critical just to catch up to the sustained growth in Huntersville, along with maintenance of existing roads.the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical and necessary functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations. I resolve to continue my campaign for Roads, support to Town-provided services, and PRIORITY SPENDING!

What makes you the most qualified candidate?: As I think each Candidate is qualified in their own ways, I distinguish myself from the other candidates running for Commissioner through my leadership and focus on the top priorities for Huntersville. I have proven to stand strong on the tough decisions and made them on behalf of the citizens who elected me. I have remained true to the principles I stand for and what earned me the trust of the voters to elect me to this office.

What regional issue do you believe most affects your municipality (such as crime, roads, schools, etc.) and what role do you believe your municipality can play in improving it?: I-77 is the main roadway into/out of Charlotte and is the main thoroughfare for hundreds of thousands…without appropriate expansion and widening of I-77, in constrast to I-85, the traffic congestion will crumble the Lake Norman area and communities.

Do you believe there could be better collaboration among the municipalities in Mecklenburg County? If so, what would you suggest to improve it?: There is always room for improvement in communications, particularly amongst elected officials and staff that feel passionate about almost every single issue presented. To counter this, open dialogue is needed, but more so…trust is the key. By developing trust and respect for each other, even when disagreeing on an issue/position, is the critical element needed. I strongly feel that the Lake Norman Transportation Commission, of which I am a member for Huntersville, is a gleeming example of regional cooperation and communication…I am proud to be a representative and member for Huntersville.
