Sheriff
The Sheriff’s Office is the county law enforcement agency.
The Sheriff oversees the duties of the Sheriff’s Office, including:
- Operation of jails
- Service of legal papers (lawsuits, etc.)
- Domestic Violence enforcement
- Courthouse security
The Sheriff’s Office and the Police Department serve different functions.
The Sheriff is elected to a 4-year term. This office is up for election in 2010.
