List up to three (3) of your most important political/civic accomplishments in the last five (5) years. (150 word limit): Being appointed by Governor Perdue to the district court bench was one of my most important political accomplishments in the last five years. In 2007 I won the Leukemia and Lymphoma society’s Woman of the Year award, which was an honor and a privilege that made me proud and taught me a great deal. This was one of my most important civic accomplishments in the last five years. Finally, I was recently recognized by the Black Political Caucus at their annual award banquet with their Political Award. Three different citizen members of the Caucus nominated me for this award.
What qualities, other than obvious fairness and impartiality, will you/do you bring to the bench that makes you a good judge? (150 word limit): I bring a wealth of experience practicing law in every area of district court, which is critical because in order to preside over and make critical decisions in district court, it is important to have experience practicing law in those same areas. Furthermore, I bring a high level of integrity and respect to the bench by setting a tone of giving respect to every individual who appears before me. Offering the community judges who are knowledgeable, respectful and who offer common courtesies on a daily basis is critical to maintain public trust in the justice system and restore the public’s trust in our judiciary.
