Volunteer in the community for the homeless and less fortunate.
What past experience do you have that you think best prepares you for this office? (150 word limit): I have 18+ years of legal experience, real world experiences and have proven to be a leader in the community.
Do you believe the state government is living up to its responsibility to adequately fund education? Please explain your position. (200 word limit): No! Our current legislators are failing to make education a priority in this state. If education was a priority, we would not have thousands of teachers out of work, overcrowded classrooms and below average test scores. The education lottery fund was established to 1) retain teachers 2) construct schools and 3) provide scholarships. The money for those areas is being taken from the fund by our current legislators and inappropriately re-allocated elsewhere. Our state’s priorities are not in order and our funds are being mismanaged! The children are our future and we must provide each and every one of them the opportunity to receive a solid education.
Do you believe the state government can help bring more jobs and economic development to North Carolina? If so, how? (150 word limit): Yes! NC has one of the highest corporate tax rates and because of this we are losing small businesses to our neighboring states who have much more competitive rates. Small businesses create PERMANENT jobs and are the key to putting people back to work and boosting our economy. When people are working, incomes are generated that allow greater spending which in turn jolts our economy.
Do you support an independent entity that would change political boundaries after each census rather than the current process (where the legislature changes the boundaries)?: NO
