Current Occupation: Former Sub-Prime Mortgage Banker Manager

Education–Highest Degree: Mars Hill College, BA-Political Science

Most important organizations you belong to (up to three): Life Member NAACP
Lincoln Heights Neigborhood Assoc.

List up to three (3) of your most important political/civic accomplishments in the last five (5) years. (150 word limit): -Endorsed by North Carolina Police Benevolent Assoc., Inc.
-Reading Buddy & Gardening Parent at Chantilly Montessori
-Student Body President & Bonner Scholar at Mars Hill College

What past experience do you have that you think best prepares you for this office? (150 word limit): I was the Assistant Treasurer of AdvantageWest-NC, the economic development group for the 23 counties of Western NC. This position reported directly to the CEO and invovled working closely with many local, state and federal government officials in Western NC to recruit, retain and expand job/career opportunities for the people of North Carolina.

Do you believe the state government is living up to its responsibility to adequately fund education? Please explain your position. (200 word limit): No, I believe the state is placing its county leaders in a bad position which is resulting in the layoffs of many educators. Our state’s education lottery supporters need to explore the opportunities of full gaming across the state with education and human services being the primary recipient of funds.

Do you believe the state government can help bring more jobs and economic development to North Carolina? If so, how? (150 word limit): Yes, we must focus more attention on existing businesses within our state. I believe recruiting new businesses before offering support/incentives to existing local small business clouds our economic future and sends a negative message current business owners who need the state’s assistance/support. New business recruitment should be put on hold until we evaluate every small to medium sized business and what they need from the state to help their success. We must take care of the state’s exisiting businesses first and foremost in good and bad economic times. Creating jobs/careers from within North Carolina state lines will build community pride, appreciation and support for the North Carolina’s economic development efforts.

Do you support an independent entity that would change political boundaries after each census rather than the current process (where the legislature changes the boundaries)?: YES

How can residents get involved in your campaign? Please include campaign manager or volunteer coordinator’s contact information.: My campaign is a true grassroots effort that is not about divisive political agendas. We must elect leaders, like me, who will represent what the people need regardless of age, race, financial standing, social status or political affiliation. Helping my campaign for NC Senate 38 will express your belief in the greater good of mankind and the success of our children’s future!
